SHETLAND WOOL WEEK
I’m thrilled to have been invited to compere my third Shetland Wool Week Opening Ceremony on Sunday 24th September 2017. This incredible event, run by Promote Shetland, has grown in scale and success throughout its seven year history and now attracts 400 participants who buy 3000 tickets for the near 200 events on offer. Visitors attend from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America and Iceland, amongst other countries, and I would encourage anyone who’s interested in textiles and Shetland to peruse the full programme. Grateful thanks to 2015 Shetland Wool Week patron, Donna Smith, for the photo above of my Mum’s stole at the first opening ceremony I compered.
Last year, by request, I performed a number of songs which I’ve composed recently and which centre on women, and I look forward to singing new material at this autumn’s celebrations. You can watch the 2.5 hour 2016 Shetland Wool Week opening ceremony here:
