Lasses Trust in Providence is the name of a traditional Shetland fiddle tune but it’s also a perfect fit for my 2018 album.

Here you’ll find a collection of ninth to twenty-first century women’s tales which illuminate the ‘She’ in Shetland. In dialect and occasionally English language, they touch on themes of exploration, witchcraft, motherhood, friendship, creativity and survival. Traditional and self-penned, these songs paint a nuanced picture of island femininity, and they’re balanced with a couple of boannie Shetland fiddle tunes for good measure.
